segenhoe tombstone

Six men dug where gold ran dry,
Beneath the earth, their dreams would lie.
A final drive, a tremble, a fall,
The tunnels collapsed, and buried them all.

Their whispers rise in whiskey’s glow,
Their spirits dance where rivers flow.
Raise your glass to the buried vein,
To gold, to greed, to loss, to gain.

gold where ghosts walk

Meticulously aged in oak barrels, absorbing the rich, earthy tones of the wood, intertwined with the crispness of the valley air. Each batch is then adorned with 24ct gold flakes, mirroring the specks of gold that sparked the fervor of fortune seekers. Its robust flavor profile features a blend of vanilla, caramel, and a hint of spice - each sip a nod to the rugged persistence of those who once mined the depths of Segenhoe.

Amidst the shadows of the earth we toiled, where gold, like secrets, was fiercely coiled. For every nugget won, a tale was spun; in the heart of the mine, under the weight of the sun.

In the rugged terrain of Segenhoe, miners carved out their destinies with relentless determination and raw grit.
These were men of courage – dreamers, wanderers, and rebels who traversed the stretch from Golden Point to Old Gully’s Edge, driven by the unyielding pursuit of gold.

By the mid-19th century, the Crown, eyeing the miners’ hard-earned treasures, imposed oppressive license fees that branded these hardworking souls as outlaws. This harsh decree forced the miners into the shadows, pushing them to delve deeper into the treacherous bowels of the earth. In the intricate network of tunnels beneath Segenhoe, they toiled in solidarity, extracting gold from the reluctant clutches of the underground, secreting away their glittering haul in hollowed-out bottles of liquor as a cunning means of concealment.

Tragedy struck one ill-fated night when the very ground they had burrowed into with hopes and dreams violently collapsed. The catastrophic event sealed the tunnels, entombing both the miners and their accumulated fortunes beneath layers of earth and stone. Six lives were abruptly extinguished, and with them, generations of stories and thousands in gold vanished into the silent depths of Segenhoe.

Leaden Hearts Segenhoe Tombstone 24ct. Gold Flake Whiskey is a tribute to the spirit of these miners—imbued with resilience, shadowed by greed, marked by triumph, and ultimately, shaped by tragedy. Aged in oak barrels and meticulously double-barreled, each bottle is infused with 24ct gold flakes, symbolizing the elusive treasure forever lost to the earth. This whiskey is not just a drink, but a rich, smooth narrative steeped in the history and drama of those bygone days.

It is a salute to the undying human spirit and a remembrance of those who dared to reach deep into the darkness in search of light. Every sip of Segenhoe Tombstone Whiskey is a tribute to their legacy, offering a taste of their enduring story and the golden dreams that remain buried beneath Segenhoe.

To the diggers, the dreamers, the men who bled for gold. To the calloused hands, the whiskey-soaked plans, the fire that never cooled. To those who stood against the Crown, who worked the dark, who took their fate and carved it deep. To the six who never saw the sun again, whose stories live in the silence beneath our feet. Raise your glass to the ones who dared. To the rebels, to the lost, to the gold still waiting in the dark.

Gold That Never Saw the Sun

The Ballad of Collapse of 1895

Beneath the hills where shadows crawl,
Where river winds and gold dust call,
Men struck the earth with calloused hands,
And dreamed of wealth in stolen lands.

Through gully deep and mountain wide,
They chased the gleam, they swore, they lied.
With whiskey strong and knuckles torn,
They carved their names where ghosts were born.

The Crown came down with iron weight,
With fees and chains, with rules and fate.
But men who toil in rock and flame,
Do not bow, do not break, do not take blame.

They dug in deeper, away from the light,
Smuggled gold in bottles tight.
Through tunnels black, through veins unknown,
They made the dark their only home.

Then came the night the earth betrayed,
The walls gave in, the tunnel caved.
The air grew thick, the timbers snapped,
The gold they sought became their trap.

Six men fell where no sun shone,
Buried deep in walls of stone.
Their dreams of wealth, their golden prize,
Lost forever from greedy eyes.

The wind still howls where the diggers bled,
The land remembers, the ground still wept.
Their names were swallowed, their stories stayed,
But gold in shadow never fades.

A drink for the dreamers, the rebels, the ones who don’t ask permission. Raise a glass to the lost, to the fearless, to the gold still buried where no man walks.
